§ 34-34. Duration and termination of emergency.

  • (a)

    Upon the declaration of emergency pursuant to section 34-31, the state of emergency shall commence immediately and shall terminate on the date set forth in the declaration.

    (b)

    Notwithstanding the provisions in subsection (a) of this section, any declaration of emergency made pursuant to section 34-31 may be subject to review by the city council at a regular or special meeting within 24 hours of such declaration or as soon thereafter as the city council can convene a meeting. The city council may review the declaration and determine whether an emergency exists. If an emergency exists, the city council may declare such emergency by resolution and may establish rules, procedures, and guidelines and may impose any other conditions the city council deems necessary under the circumstances. Any declaration made by the city council pursuant to this subsection shall supercede any declaration made pursuant to section 34-31.
