§ 90-260. New construction around existing lines.

Latest version.
  • New manholes constructed around existing lines shall be constructed without disturbing the existing line. When this "doghouse" manhole is completed, the existing pipe shall be removed from the invert of the manhole. Care shall be taken in removing the pipe to prevent stoppage. Immediately upon completion of the manhole, all waste mortar and debris shall be removed from the bottom and invert. When the walls are completed, a standard manhole frame and cover shall be set in place. Above the base, manhole inverts shall be carefully constructed of smooth concrete to maintain proper velocities. Changes in pipe grade, alignment, or size shall be made by transition sections of the invert, determined by the lower half of the inlet and outlet pipes, but not greater than that of the outlet pipe. All inverts shall be plastered, troweled, and brushed to a smooth clean surface. Inlet and outlet pipes shall not project more than two inches beyond the interior wall of the manhole and shall be free from all sharp masonry.
